Description
Dr. Heming Wang’s Laboratory at the Program in Sleep Medicine Epidemiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School invites applicants for a postdoctoral position. Dr. Wang is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and an emerging leader of sleep genetics in national and international consortia (e.g., CHARGE and TOPMed). Dr. Wang has published multiple high impact papers on top-tier journals (including Nature Genetics, Nature Communications and Molecular Psychology) and received several federal funds. The successful candidates will be funded by Dr. Wang’s new NHLBI award to conduct innovative pathway-based transcriptomics investigation for sleep disorders and related cardiometabolic outcomes. He/she will 1) develop novel genomics and multi-omics approaches for common heritable diseases; 2) learn comprehensive physiology and wearables data (e.g., polysomnography and accelerometry data) in diverse population-based studies and biobanks; 3) collaborate with leading investigators of genetics, physiology and epidemiology from Harvard and Broad Institute; 4) submit mentored fellowship/career development grants. This position is expected to start in July 2023 and will be open until it is filled.
Position qualifications
- PhD in statistical genetics, bioinformatics, biostatistics, data science, or a related field
- Experience in genomics and transcriptomics data analysis is desired.
- Strong programming skills in R/Python
- Good oral and written communication skills in English
